Register.com domain transfer problems

I am having some weird problems with Register.com. I decided to transfer a domain over to Godaddy. When I called Register.com to ask why they haven’t sent a confirmation request to effect this change they told me that a company called "North Sky" was the registering partner and I would have to contact them.
I really don’t understand what’s going on because I registered with register.com and I have made DNS changes with them before - now all of a sudden there’s this company called North Sky that I’ve never heard of and I have to deal with them?
They don’t seem to be responding.
I have a feeling that somethings fishy with Register.com

I guess that I should have posted this in the Domain Name Forum.

I never thought that Register.com would be causing so many problems with a simple domain name transfer. They must be losing a lot of customers to Godaddy , Dotster and Enom.

They are claiming that they don’t have control over my domain name even thought I paid them almost 2 years ago ($70.00) and have the original Invoice. They are telling me that "Blue Sky" was the one who sold me the domain even though their name is on it.

Blue Sky,"conveniently" does not have a phone so I can’t call them and they are sending me pointless emails that are not solving the problem. It’s like talking to a stone wall!

As a last resort, Register.com tried to offer a last ditch offer to renew my domain at $12 instead of $35. Well I wouldn’t stay with them now if they gave it to me for free

What happens when you initiate the transfer request?

When I try to confirm the transfer and click on the commit button - I get this message confirmation - "This domain had not requested to transfer!"
I give up with Register.com. It’s like talking to a brick wall.
Bummer.

Who did you try to transfer to? Were they able to offer any assistance or do they send you back to Registar.com?

Trying to go to Godaddy. I’m going to wait a few days and see what happens. After a certain period I guess that Godaddy can initiate another transfer attempt and I can start all over again.

The lesson here is that if you are going to transfer a domain name , make sure that you give yourself plenty of time. Problems always pop up. Fortunately my domain name expires June 17th so I still have plenty of time to make a few more attempts at a transfer before I file a complaint against Register.com with Internic!

Your filed complaint is likely to call on deaf ears I’m sorry to say. It’s worth doing anyway, but don’t lose your domain in the process.

I would ask GoDaddy to contact register.com as well on your behalf.

They will be able to resubmit the transfer request after it has been formally denied, or it times out. They may also be able to cancel and reissue the transfer immediately without waiting for the timeout, depending on the state the transfer is in.

Well I finally got the transfer done! What really confuses me the most is the fact that almost 2 years ago I purchased a domain from Register.com for $70.00 and when I tried to get it transferred from them they told me that another company actually sold me the name, even though I have a receipt from them.
Register.com said that I would have to deal with this other company, "Blue Sky" that doesn’t even have a telephone number. I’ll tell you what, I didn’t pay $35.00 a year to get that kind of service. I’m glad that I’m out of there.

Register.com is the worst!
